Hot wine, cougnoux, and tartiflettes will once again fill downtown Brussels with their enticing aromas for the 24th edition of Winter Wonders.
The event, entitled Plaisirs d'Hiver in French, will brighten the holiday season in the capital from 29 November to 5 January. This year’s festivities will feature a touch of sunshine and olive oil, as the Var region of France is the guest of honour.
Merchants from this southern French department will set up shop in chalets on Place de la Bourse. They will introduce Belgians and tourists to their specialities amidst the bright lights of the Christmas market.
Visitors can savour regional wines, olive oil, truffles, and Provençal scents, or admire the traditional nativity scene. The Brussels Christmas market, with its Belgian and international handicrafts, rides, and Ferris wheel, will span De Brouckère, Monnaie, Bourse, Sainte-Catherine, and Marché aux Poissons squares.
The Grand-Place will host the majestic Christmas tree and nativity scene. Attractions and food stalls will be open daily from 12:00 to 22:00. The rest of the Winter Wonders programme will be unveiled in mid-November.
