City of Brussels Mayor Philippe Close was the Belgian capital's most popular candidate, having received the highest number of preference votes in the local elections held on Sunday.
With 9,042 votes, the socialist mayor topped the list, ahead of Uccle’s mayor Boris Dilliès (MR, 6,692 votes), David Weytsman (MR, 6,108 votes) in Brussels, and Woluwe-Saint-Lambert’s mayor Olivier Maingain (DéFI, 6,057 votes).
Another significant ranking is the "penetration rate," which measures the ratio of preference votes to the total valid votes cast in the constituency. This rate tends to favour candidates from smaller municipalities.
The leader in this category is Emir Kir, mayor of Saint-Josse, the smallest municipality in the region, with a penetration rate of 42.43%.
The ranking predominantly features re-elected mayors, who hold the top seven positions.
After Emir Kir, the list includes Ahmed Laaouej (PS) in Koekelberg (34.59%), Ridouane Chahid (PS) in Evere (24.74%), Olivier Maingain (DéFI) in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert (24.04%), Benoît Cerexhe (Les Engagés) in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre (23.17%), Vincent De Wolf (MR) in Etterbeek (22.61%), and Sophie de Vos (DéFI) in Auderghem (21.51%).
