Flanders has decided not to invest in the electric truck assembly plant that Chinese manufacturer Windrose plans to establish in Antwerp, De Tijd reported on Wednesday.
Earlier this year, Windrose opened its European headquarters and a workshop in Zele (East Flanders). The company aims to launch an electric truck assembly plant in the Port of Antwerp. The proposed investment is €300 million and is expected to create several thousand jobs.
After a thorough analysis, the public investment company Vlaanderen Participatiemaatschappij (PMV) has opted out of investing in the plant. "It is good that the Flemish government has done its homework," the business organisation Voka commented.
The Federal Holding and Investment Company (SFPI) will make its decision next week.
