While the September deadline for the teams to be fully operational is approaching, recruiting nurses and doctors in particular is proving difficult, Knack reported.
For each of the fifteen teams, the Flemish Agency for Care and Health is looking for a total of around fifty employees including doctors, nurses and health promoters.
There are currently a mere four doctors available, and another five are going through the selection procedure.

An attempt to employ general practitioners in training was crippled by the educational institutions. The Agency is now looking at making healthcare personnel available through the general practitioners’ association and various other means.
"We knew that it would be difficult," the Care and Health Agency said. In any case, the agency does not fear for the operability of the teams as “the teams are allocated to a region, but can be deployed flexibly depending on the needs.”
