Antwerp police arrested four people as part of an anti-drugs operation on Saturday, including Yassin B. (30), a local drug dealer well known to the law enforcers.

The police were able to track down Yassin, also known by the nickname 'Favela,' at the start of an investigation into drug dealing on Groeningerplein in Antwerp. By following two dealers active on the square, the police traced them to a home occupied by Yassin B.

When the police arrived, he tried to flee but was caught by the officers. Another search carried out during the same operation led to the arrest of a fourth suspect.

In all, police officers seized 218 grammes of cannabis, 15.35 grammes of cocaine, two precision scales, seven mobile phones and €360 in cash on Saturday.

The four men were brought before an examining magistrate. Three of them, including Yassin B., were placed under arrest while the fourth was conditionally released.

Yassin B. is well known to the Antwerp police for drug trafficking. At one time, he sold drugs via a Snapchat account entitled ‘Favela,’ hence his nickname.

Last year, he was stabbed during a fight on Groeningerplein.
