A miniature portrait of Louise d’Orléans, the first Queen of the Belgians, will be auctioned in Paris on 27 November by Artcurial.
The portrait, estimated to be worth between €10,000 and €15,000, was created by miniaturist Jean-Baptiste Isabey.
Dating back to 1832, the artwork comes from the collection of Pierre Jourdan-Barry, according to the auction house. Louise d’Orléans' portrait was made with watercolour and gum arabic (a type of tree gum) on vellum paper.
Louise d’Orléans (1812-1850) was the eldest daughter of King Louis-Philippe and his wife Marie-Amélie. She married Léopold I in 1832.
