A 29-year-old man from Ghent, Dries De Graeve, has been missing in Morocco for several days after disappearing while on holiday with two friends.

The missing persons unit of the federal police has been informed and is in contact with the Moroccan police, the East Flanders Public Prosecutor's Office reported on Saturday.

"Dries was on holiday in Taghazout (Morocco) with two friends. They last saw him on the night of 18 to 19 November," De Graeve's family said on social media. "He was confused and restless that night. He has since disappeared. He was probably last seen in Taghazout on the night of 20 November."

Dries is approximately 1m85 tall, has short black curly hair and light brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black trousers. "The local police in Taghazout and here in Belgium are looking for him," De Graeve's sister posted.

The Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the family in Belgium also reported the disappearance. "The investigation is being conducted by the police in Morocco, but there is cooperation to find the young man."

"The missing persons unit is informed and is in contact with the Moroccan police via the federal police's liaison officer," said a spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor's Office. "The unit keeps the family informed and is ready if Morocco has any questions to conduct an investigation here."

The Public Prosecutor's Office cannot provide any details about the circumstances of the disappearance.
