Minimum pensions will be raised to €1,580 gross in the next four years, said francophone liberal president Georges-Louis Bouchez on Thursday, contradicting earlier talk of a net amount by socialists.
This minimum amount of €1,580 gross would apply for full careers, and would be in force by the end of the new government in 2024, Bouchez told francophone radio La Première.

Raising the pension to €1,500 net would have cost €3.6 billion in new spending alone, he said. However, the envelope planned for all the new policies of the new government will be €3.3 billion, he noted.
Setting minimum pensions at €1,500 net is a "political objective" of certain government partners, Bouchez said, but will not happen in the new government.
