A woman was stabbed to death in a home in Schaerbeek on Tuesday night, according to the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office.
The Brussels North police zone was called to Avenue Diamant in Schaerbeek around 20:40 where a woman was severely injured after being stabbed in a common landing of a home.
Upon arrival, officers attended to the victim until emergency services arrived. The emergency services then took over with providing medical aid but the victim eventually succumbed to her injuries.
A perimeter was established at the scene by the police, and the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office was informed of the incident. A forensic team from the federal police and a medical examiner were also called to the scene.
Two suspects were arrested on the same Tuesday night, although it is not clear what their role is in the crime.
Searches were also conducted as part of the investigation.
It is still unclear what exactly happened at this stage in the investigation, the Prosecutor's Office said in a statement. "The judicial investigation is ongoing. In the interest of this, no further information can be communicated," it added.
