The King and Queen of Belgium met with US veterans on Thursday to mark the Battle of the Bulge that took place in 1944-45.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde received four US veterans at Laeken Palace in Brussels on Thursday.
The visit occurred two days before the 80-year-anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge – a decisive Second World War battle fought in the Ardennes. It is considered the German army's last major offensive on the Western Front.
"A recognition for their courage and that of their comrades in arms who have now passed away," the Royal Palace posted on social media. "Thank you gentlemen: we will never forget."
