A number of communes in the province of Luxembourg are to receive almost €7 million in subsidies for the development of various economic and urban projects, the Walloon Government announced in a press release on Thursday.
Slightly more than half of the amount will be provided by the Walloon Region, with the remainder coming from the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
This support will be used to create an urban park in the heart of Libramont, Bastogne and Aubange, to develop a pedestrian/cyclist link between Marche-en-Famenne and the Ravel de l'Ourthe, and to create a tourist, cultural and events centre in the heart of Arlon.
On Thursday, the government also announced a further €5 million for the redevelopment of three tourist centres in the province.
This money will be used to develop the esplanade at Bouillon Castle and its pathways to the town centre, to revitalise the pedestrian walkway at La Roche-en-Ardenne and the link to its castle, and to develop the Verly Impasse at Saint-Hubert.
