The Belgian film Têtes brûlées will have its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) announced on Tuesday.

The film tells the story of 12-year-old Eya (Safa Gharbaoui) who tragically loses her brother Younès (Mehdi Bouziane) overnight. She must learn to cope with the grief of losing the person she spent most of her time with.

Têtes brûlées was filmed in Brussels and is the debut feature film of director and actress Maja-Ajmia Zellama. It was produced by Marc Goyens and Nabil Ben Yadir, in co-production with Quetzalcoatl and 10.80 Films.

The 75th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, the Berlinale, will take place from 13 to 23 February. Têtes brûlées will be shown in the Generation 14plus category.
