A female Brussels police inspector was arrested last Friday night as she was under the influence and was causing public disorder while on a night out.

The woman works for the Brussels-North police zone (Schaerbeek/Evere/Saint-Josse-ten-Noode). She was arrested by her colleagues from another police zone, the City of Brussels/ Ixelles zone, on Friday 13 December. The woman was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, La Dernière Heure reported. Both police zones confirmed the news.

"It is true that a member of the Brussels-North zone was removed from a nightclub in the centre of Brussels and was arrested for public disorder," said Ilse Van de Keere, spokesperson for the City of Brussels/ Ixelles police zone.

Internal investigation

The inspector had been dining at a restaurant with colleagues before heading to a nightclub. Around 03:00, most of her colleagues went home, but the woman decided to continue partying at another venue.

At the entrance of the second establishment, she was stopped by a bouncer, allegedly for being too drunk. The situation escalated, prompting intervention from the police.

The spokesperson for the Brussels North Police Zone, Audrey Dereymaeker told Bruzz that the zone is aware of an incident involving one of its staff members. "An internal investigation has been launched to better understand the context and circumstances of the entire event." Pending the investigation, no further comments could be given.
