Hundreds of people gathered in the city of Magdeburg on Sunday to honour the victims of Friday's deadly attack, which claimed five lives and injured 200 others.
Families and individuals of all ages assembled in front of Johannes Church. Some had tears in their eyes, while others embraced. They remained silent, observing the growing number of floral tributes.
On Friday evening, a car ploughed into the crowd at the city's Christmas market, resulting in five fatalities and over 200 injuries. The suspect is currently in custody, awaiting trial.
The French Minister for Europe, Benjamin Haddad, is expected to visit on Sunday to lay a wreath in tribute to the victims at Magdeburg Cathedral.
The Justice Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Franziska Weidinger, along with city representatives, are also expected to attend.
