The US Treasury Department was the victim of a cyberattack in early December, the department said in a letter sent on Monday to members of the House of Representatives.
The attack targeted several workstations within the department, using third-party software BeyondTrust, but no classified information was compromised, according to the letter, a copy of which was viewed by French news agency, AFP.
There are indications that the cyberattack was carried out by an actor funded by Beijing, the department said.
