Seven of the fifteen ski resorts in Belgium’s eastern regions are partially open this Saturday, according to the local tourism office’s snow report.
Alpine skiing enthusiasts will find satisfaction only at Ovifat, where one green and one blue slope are open, thanks to the 15 centimetres of snow on the ground. Children can also enjoy sledging there.
Other resorts have opened some of their cross-country skiing trails. At Mont Spinette, an 11-kilometre trail is available with 10 centimetres of snow, although it is not groomed.
The Manderfeld – Auf dem Biert resort, with 8 centimetres of snow, has opened its 2 and 4 km trails. Guided snowshoe hikes are also available there.
At Baraque Michel and Signal de Botrange, all ungroomed cross-country skiing trails are open with 10 centimetres of snow covering them.
In Losheimergraben, near the German border, 15 centimetres of snow cover the ground, and the three cross-country skiing trails, ranging from 4 to 12 kilometres, are open.
Lastly, at the Herzebösch ski centre, two of the five cross-country trails – the 2 km and 5 km ones – are accessible, with 15 centimetres of snow on the ground.
