Around 4,200 people plunged into the North Sea at Ostend on Saturday for the traditional New Year’s dive.
The sea temperature was measured at 7°C, while the air temperature barely reached 2°C.
“Most participants wore hats and shoes, which is also important,” the organisers said, while a proper warm-up session also took place before the dive.
Many participants sported accessories and costumes.
After the swim, hot chocolate and gin were offered to the daring swimmers.
The event occurred without incident.
