In December, 92,596 jobseekers were registered in Brussels, 0.6% more than a year earlier, according to the monthly report of the Brussels Employment Agency, Actiris.
Over half (54.9%) of jobseekers in the Brussels-Capital Region applied for benefits. The number of job seekers registered with the Public Welfare Centre (OCMW) increased.
The figure rose to 17,756 people, a rise of 13.8% compared to the previous year. The number of job seekers searching for less than a year decreased by 2.7%.
However, the number of job seekers with unemployment lasting between one and two years increased by 7.2%. Additionally, the share of long-term job seekers (more than two years) rose by 1.2%.
Nearly half (45.5%) of Brussels job seekers have been unemployed for two years or more.
