About a month after Digi entered the Belgian telecom market as the fourth operator, Scarlet announced on Wednesday that it is adapting its offer.
The company, a subsidiary of Proximus, has increased the data volumes of its mobile subscriptions without lowering prices, aiming to meet the evolving needs of its customers. It also introduced a new rate for out-of-bundle data usage.
A month ago, Digi caused a stir in the Belgian telecom market with its €5 offer, which included unlimited calls and SMS and 15GB of mobile internet with 4G connectivity.
On the same day, Hey!, Orange Belgium’s low-cost brand, announced a price adjustment to match the new competitor’s offer and differentiated itself with a hybrid 4G/5G network.
A few days later, Mobile Vikings, another Proximus low-cost subsidiary, announced it would double the data in its mobile subscriptions without changing the price.
Now, Scarlet, another low-cost subsidiary of Proximus, is following suit. For the second time in less than a year, customers will automatically receive increased data volumes at no extra cost on their next bill.
Specifically, the cheapest plan, at €8 per month, will see data volume quintuple from 1GB to 5GB. Other plans will have their data doubled: Berry will offer 10GB for €10 per month, Cherry will have 20GB for €13 per month, and Hot will provide 40GB for €18 per month. Prices remain unchanged, with only the most expensive plan including unlimited calls.
In addition, Scarlet will match Digi’s out-of-bundle data usage rate, setting it at €0.60 per GB.
Meanwhile, Proximus itself implemented several price increases on 1 January.
