Founder of the French far-right Jean Marie Le Pen's funeral will take place in his hometown of La Trinité-sur-Mer on Saturday.
Le Pen died at the age of 96 on Tuesday, in a hospital in Paris after several weeks of illness. The far-right figure founded the party National Front (now called National Rally) in 1972. He is the father of the current party leader Marine Le Pen.
His funeral will take place in his hometown of La Trinité-sur-Mer in Britanny, the RN vice-president Louis Aliot announced on Wednesday.
The ceremony will be held "in family privacy," Marine Le Pen's former partner specified on TF1. Jean-Marie Le Pen had previously expressed the wish to be buried in the family vault in La Trinité-sur-Mer.
The far-right French figure led a tumultuous political career that saw him expelled from his own party by his daughter for antisemitism.
