Russia has planned terrorist attacks against aircraft worldwide, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Wednesday at a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Poland.

Poland, a member of both the EU and NATO, has been a key ally of Ukraine since Russia launched a war against Kyiv in February 2022.

“I can only confirm that Russia planned acts of air terror, not just against Poland but against airlines across the globe,” Tusk told reporters in Warsaw alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Wednesday. He emphasised the need for joint action.

Tusk also pledged to do everything possible to resolve the deadlock in Ukraine’s EU accession process. He promised that during its presidency of the EU, Poland would break the impasse that has developed in recent months, and work unconditionally with Ukraine and its European partners to expedite the process as much as possible.

For his part, Zelensky highlighted the importance of expedited membership. “The faster Ukraine becomes a member of the EU and NATO, the sooner we will act together, and the faster Europe will achieve the geopolitical security it requires,” he said.
