Built in 1889 by architect Hendrik Beyaert, the building that now houses Hotel de Ville was the former headquarters of the Caisse Générale d’Epargne et de Retraite and other prominent banking institutions, who were esteemed for their prestigious meeting rooms adorned with meticulous decoration.
This neoclassical-style building, later enlarged by architects Henri van Dievoet and Alban Chambon, is distinguished by its elegant façade, rich architectural details and undeniable historical significance.
As you enter the building, you can see the care that has been put into the restoration and the interior design which was orchestrated by Saar Zafrir. It is a respectful homage to the buildings glorious past, while incorporating contemporary elements that breathe new life into this once business-only space.

“Our aim for Hotel Fleur de Ville was to create a captivating and artistic journey for guests by incorporating authentic elements that accentuate the narrative and historical significance of the building,” states interior designer Saar Zafrir. “Hotel Fleur de Ville invites guests to delve into the layers of its past and present, and challenges them to reimagine heritage," she added.

Restaurant "era"
On the first floor of Hotel Fleur de Ville, a new culinary destination has been unveiled with the new restaurant "era," where local food enthusiasts and modern diners can gather for an evening of delight and discovery. Set in the former council chamber, with its retro-chic design, soaring ceilings, and rich historic details, era offers a truly distinctive atmosphere.
Chef Yonatan Cohen draws inspiration from traditional French and European cuisine, enriching it with modern influences and high-quality local ingredients. “My goal for era is that when a guest leaves, they immediately think of their next visit. By changing the menu regularly, we arouse curiosity and ensure that guests are presented with an entirely new culinary experience," he said.
Signature dishes, such as steak tartare with cheese garum, fermented chili, and bone marrow hollandaise topped with caviar, exemplify his inventive style. Paired with carefully curated natural wines, creative cocktails, and attentive service, every evening at era is a memorable experience.
