Firefighters from the Dinaphi zone in Yvoir (Namur province) rescued a newborn trapped in a car at Mont-Godinne hospital's car park on Friday afternoon, according to spokesperson Patrice Liétart.
The car had locked automatically before the mother could get inside.
"The firefighters were not well-prepared for this type of intervention, but they showed resourcefulness to free the child without causing damage to the vehicle," the spokesperson said.
Both the baby and the mother are doing well, Liétart concluded.
