Belgium secured fifth place at the World Pastry Cup on Saturday in Lyon, France. The Belgian team, known as the 'Pastry Lions', also won the eco-responsibility prize.
The Belgian team comprised Marijn Coertjens, Dieter Charels, and Raoul Andriessen, scoring a total of 11,504 points.
Japan emerged victorious with 14,026 points, retaining their title. France came in second with 13,621 points, repeating last year’s result. Malaysia took third place with 11,696 points, and China was fourth with 11,674 points.
Since Belgium's first participation in the World Pastry Cup in 1991, the country has won one gold medal (1995), three silver medals (2007, 1999, 1993), and three bronze medals (2011, 2009, 2003).
