Antwerp police have arrested two men found in possession of €440,000 and significant quantities of illegal drugs.
On 26 January, officers witnessed the exchange of a large sum of money between a motorist and a pedestrian in Groenenhoek District, Berchem.
The amount exchanged totalled €50,000.
One of the men was found with a key to a hotel room, which police inspected. They discovered a third man, about €390,000, 42 ecstasy pills, and 10 mobile phones in the room.
All three men were apprehended and brought before a judge. Two were detained on charges of money laundering and belonging to a criminal organisation. The third individual was released under certain conditions.
Authorities seized the cash, drugs and mobile phones, as well as the vehicle involved in the transaction.
