A French national born in 1990 has been placed under arrest following an attack on a train attendant last Saturday at Charleroi-Central station, the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday.
On Saturday, 1 February, a train attendant was assaulted by an individual on a platform at Charleroi-Central station.
The Charleroi Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed on Tuesday morning that the train attendant was injured and is unable to work for 15 days.
"A Securail agent reportedly intervened during the altercation and was also injured," added the Charleroi prosecutor’s office.
The suspect, a French national born in 1990, was apprehended on a train. He is already known to French authorities, according to the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office.
The man, questioned by police, reportedly made incoherent statements and appeared disoriented. He was presented to an investigating judge and placed under arrest. A psychiatric evaluation has been ordered.
