Mali: 32 dead in suspected jihadist attack on large civilian convoy under escort
The Russian Wagner mercenary group has been active not only in Ukraine but also in other parts of the world, including the Sahel and the Middle East.

In northern Mali, at least 32 people have been killed in an attack by jihadists. The convoy was attacked between the eastern cities of Gao and Ansongo.

Initially, the death toll was reported as ten, but it has now risen to 32. This information has been confirmed by various anonymous sources to the AFP news agency.

Both civilians and soldiers are reported to be among the dead. The convoy, which the Malian army and Russian Wagner militia members were escorting, consisted of 22 minibuses, six large buses, and eight trucks. It is reported that at least five trucks were destroyed by the jihadists.

Numerous attacks by jihadists and bandits have been carried out on the road between Gao and Ansongo over the past few months.
