A prisoner at Haren Prison attempted to assault a social worker on Tuesday, reports Het Nieuwsblad.
The information has been confirmed by the Prison Administration. "This morning, a member of the psychosocial service was violently attacked," said a spokesperson for the Administration.
"She was the victim of an assault attempt by a recently arrived inmate. Fortunately, she quickly raised the alarm and the staff responded promptly."
The critical incident procedure was initiated, and all activities in the prison were halted this afternoon, the spokesperson detailed. "The staff member involved is receiving professional support, and a complaint has been filed against the inmate."
