The coalition talks in Austria have come to a halt according to the leader of the Austrian far-right Hebert Kickl, Belga News Agency reports.
On Wednesday, Kickl informed President Alexander Van der Bellen that he had failed to form a coalition government with the conservatives, who were reluctant to accept his project.
"Although we made concessions on many points [...] the talks have unfortunately been unsuccessful," he wrote in his letter. Kickl is therefore "handing over the mandate" that had been entrusted to him on 6 January.
