Five individuals have been arrested following the discovery of a mutilated body in Liège.
The victim was discovered in an apartment on 5 February and had been shot several times and bludgeoned with a machete. The Liège Public Prosecutor's Office announced the arrests on Monday.
Police entered the apartment on Rue des Guillemins at around 22:30 on 5 February. According to the coroner's initial findings, the man had been shot six times with a firearm and stabbed twice with a machete. The victim, a man born in 1994, was not known to the law.
The investigation quickly led to the identification of five suspects. They were arrested, brought before the examining magistrate in charge of the investigation and placed under arrest warrant for murder.
According to the Public Prosecutor, the initial findings suggest that the incident was a settling of accounts in the Liège drug scene.
The investigation is ongoing and the Public Prosecutor will not be releasing any further information.
