Digi Communications, the parent company of the Belgian telecoms Digi Belgium, released its annual results on Friday. However Belgium's initial performance was left out, amid reports of issues with working conditions.

The Romanian telecoms operator has been active in Belgium since mid-December last year. The company's cheaper services shook up the sector which had previously been dominated by only three telecoms companies.

While the annual report for 2024 covered all countries where the company operates, there was no mention of Belgium. The operator explains that it only publishes figures for its consolidated entities. Digi Belgium is a joint venture between the Romanian group of the same name and the Belgian group Citymesh.

The working conditions of employees at Digi have been in the spotlight this week following an investigation by Het Laatste Nieuws. The telecoms company allegedly does not comply with safety requirements.

On Thursday, Digi Belgium announced it has made "a number of changes within the management team." Several executives were fired, and the company reportedly stopped paying some invoices, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.

Last year, the Romanian group recorded a revenue of €1.9 billion, an increase of 13.9% compared to 2023. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by 15.8% to nearly €685 million.
