The United States may soon resume military and intelligence support to Ukraine, key aides to President Donald Trump said on Wednesday.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe told Fox News that the halt in both weapon supplies and intelligence sharing was intended to encourage Ukraine to engage in peace talks with Russia.

Ratcliffe confirmed that the pause affected the sharing of information from US satellite networks and intelligence agencies, including his own CIA.

He also noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has since expressed his readiness for peace in a letter to Trump.

The CIA Director said he believed the pause in military and intelligence support would end, and that the US would once again work shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine.

National Security Advisor Mike Waltz outlined conditions for resuming aid, indicating that Trump would consider it seriously if peace talks were arranged.

He also mentioned that “confidence-building measures” would be necessary, and described Zelenskyy’s gesture as a good, positive first step.
