The Ukrainian Ambassador to London, Valeri Zaluzhny, has accused US President Donald Trump of destroying the world order.

Speaking on Thursday, Zaluzhny described Washington’s concessions to Moscow as a “tremendous challenge,”  PA news agency reported on Thursday.

Zaluzhny noted that the White House is “casting doubt on the unity of the entire Western world.”

While Russia is attempting to overthrow the world order, it is ultimately the United States that is destroying it, the ambassador said.

His comments come at a time when tensions between Ukraine and the US appear to be cooling.

Last Friday, a meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House ended in an unprecedented row.

Earlier this week, Zelenskyy extended an olive branch to Trump, assuring him of his willingness to negotiate for lasting peace with Russia as soon as possible.

Zaluzhny warned that US concessions to Russia could lead to the collapse of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) alliance, and cautioned that Europe could become the next target for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zaluzhny, who was the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army until last year, is seen as a potential candidate to succeed Zelenskyy as President of Ukraine.

Due to the ongoing war with Russia, elections are currently not feasible in Ukraine.

Trump recently criticized Zelensky, labelling him a “dictator without elections.”
