A man was shot three times in Charleroi on Thursday evening, the Charleroi Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Friday afternoon, following reports in several media outlets.

A suspect fired at two men who were out walking on Boulevard Jacques Bertrand in Charleroi at around 20:30 on Thursday.

One of the individuals was shot three times in the shoulder, foot and buttock before being taken to hospital.

The public prosecutor's office, which was informed of the incident, stated on Friday afternoon that the victim's life was not in danger.

The person who was with the victim has been interviewed by the police. The man who was shot will also be interviewed, "as soon as his state of health allows," stated the Charleroi judicial authority.

The suspect has not been identified and is still at large. The Charleroi public prosecutor's office also stated that it has no evidence at this stage relating to the motive for the shooting and that the investigation is ongoing.
