Belgium's constitutional court has upheld a Brussels regulation giving tenants first refusal to purchase the property they are renting if it goes on sale.
The high court dismissed an annulment appeal against this right of preference, which was introduced into the Brussels housing code in 2023.
The measure had faced opposition from estate agents, who argued that it could disrupt the property market and potentially reduce their own income.
