British anti-terror police have launched an investigation into the Northern Irish hip hop group Kneecap, vocal critics of Israel's war in Gaza, over alleged incitement to violence and support for Hamas in concert videos.

The investigation focuses on two videos from 2023 and 2024. In one, a member appears to chant “Up Hamas, Up Hezbollah.” In another, someone on stage reportedly shouts: “The only good Tory is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP.”

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has called for the group to be banned, and MPs are urging its removal from the lineup of the Glastonbury Festival, scheduled for 25 to 29 June.

Kneecap has denied supporting Hamas or Hezbollah, asserting on social media that they “condemn all attacks on civilians” and “reject calls for violence against MPs or individuals.”

During a  performance in Coachella, California, in April, the band displayed anti-Israel messages, which also drew significant criticism.
