The Brussels-Capital Region is celebrating its 36th anniversary this weekend with the Iris Festival, offering a host of free activities for all ages, including concerts featuring artists like Fatboy Slim from the UK and Belgium’s own The Magician, as announced by the organisers, visit.brussels.
The annual Iris Festival presents a wide array of complimentary events on its agenda. On Saturday, Brussels residents can partake in guided tours of the Forest Town Hall, enjoy rides on a steam train, visit the Saint-Gilles Town Hall, or participate in numerous activities in the municipality of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. Additionally, Anderlecht will host a walking tour through the Kuregem district, a pétanque tournament, concerts, and other attractions.
As the evening unfolds, the “exciting” Iris Tipik Electro Night will take place at the Place des Palais, featuring performances by Fatboy Slim, The Magician, MYD, and many other artists in the heart of the city.
On Sunday, the Warandepark will transform into themed villages focused on sports, culture, and science, featuring over eighty organisations. A university village will host UCL and EPHEC for the first time. The public can also enjoy dancing at the Kiosk in Warandepark with programmes including bachata, traditional Cuban dancing, and Zumba. A Kids Village will entertain the youngest Brussels residents throughout the anniversary weekend.
Lastly, the region is organising street theatre and the Iris Market, a unique market highlighting Brussels’ expertise and products.
