Five men were arrested on Saturday in the United Kingdom on suspicion of planning a terrorist act targeting a specific location, the anti-terrorism unit of the Metropolitan Police reported on Sunday.
Four of the suspects are Iranian nationals, while the nationality of the fifth remains undetermined.
The arrested individuals include a 29-year-old man in Swindon, a 46-year-old man in West London, and three others, including a 29-year-old and a 40-year-old, in Greater Manchester.
They are being held on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act.
Dominic Murphy, the head of the Metropolitan Police’s anti-terrorism unit, stated that the investigation is in its early stages, with various leads being explored to identify any potential motives and assess further risks to public safety.
Officers are conducting searches at multiple locations across Swindon, London, and Greater Manchester.
