Since the introduction of the Flemish pet stickers, a total of 703,073 have been distributed, according to a response to a written question from Flemish MP Mieke Claes (N-VA).

The Flemish government introduced the pet stickers in 2018 to inform emergency services about the number and types of pets in a household in case of an emergency, such as a house fire.

“Numerous cities and municipalities have ordered a supply of stickers. Since their introduction, a total of 703,073 stickers have been distributed. In 2024 alone, 29,915 stickers were ordered by municipal administrations or animal shelters. Those who need additional stickers can still order more and have them delivered free of charge,” Claes stated.

Flemish Minister of Animal Welfare Ben Weyts (N-VA) will continue to encourage organisations to adopt the Flemish pet stickers, which are now well established and quickly recognisable. Next month, two information days will be organised for local administrations about campaign materials related to animal welfare.
