On 17 and 18 May, Kunstwerkt is organising its fourth edition of the Atelier in Beeld initiative, during which more than 1,600 studios across Flanders and Brussels will open their doors to the public, involving around 2,500 artists.

Atelier in Beeld aims to bring visual art closer to the public, providing artists with the opportunity to showcase their work to a broader audience and offer visitors a unique insight into the art creation process. The featured artwork ranges from painting, glass art, and sculpture to ceramics and street art.

The studios vary widely in character; some artists open their attics or kitchens, while others welcome visitors into their studios or warehouses. For example, visitors can explore Spreekkamer in Sint-Niklaas, an old doctor’s practice featuring various sculptures. In Merksem, eighteen emerging artists are displaying their work in a former police station, while Carla Meertens’ assemblages, created from unique objects and recycled materials, are on show in Kessel-Lo.

The public is invited to visit participating studios throughout the weekend between 11:00 and 18:00.
