Pianists discover sound diversity during The Fabulous Four in Ghent

On 10 and 11 May 2025, Quatre Mains Piano’s will host ‘The Fabulous Four’ at the Wintercircus in Ghent, offering pianists and enthusiasts the chance to play and compare four top concert grand piano brands—Fazioli, C. Bechstein, Yamaha, and Steinway & Sons—under identical acoustic conditions.

The initiative aims to raise awareness among musicians about the diverse tonal qualities of different pianos, a feature that the organisation believes is often overlooked in piano competitions like the Queen Elisabeth Competition, where all participants perform on the same brand.

The event will be held at the Wintercircus in Ghent, a recently restored historical venue. Its unique architecture and excellent acoustics provide the perfect setting for comparing the four concert grand pianos. Once a circus and later a garage, the venue has been transformed into a versatile cultural space that now attracts music enthusiasts with a variety of events.

In addition to open testing sessions, concerts are planned, including a recital by pianist Marie François and a Jazz Battle featuring artists like Jef Neve. Entry to The Fabulous Four is free, but reservations are required due to limited seating. More information and registration details are available on the Quatre Mains Piano’s website.
