American industrial gas company Air Products announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Belgian company IJsfabriek Strombeek, a specialist in producing various industrial gases such as nitrous oxide, dry ice, and carbon dioxide.
The company, located in Meise and owned by the Soens family for more than 120 years, now joins Air Products’ portfolio. Air Products aims to strengthen its presence in Belgium, optimise its supply chain, and increase production capacity. The American giant, with revenue exceeding $12 billion (approximately €10.7 billion) in 2024, already operates in Vilvoorde, Flemish Brabant, and Heusden-Zolder, Limburg.
Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed. Air Products has confirmed that all IJsfabriek Strombeek employees will be retained within its structure.
“Joining Air Products opens up unique opportunities for growth and innovation while maintaining our focus on safety, reliability, and meeting customer expectations,” said Dieter Soens, Managing Director of IJsfabriek Strombeek, in a statement.
