King Philippe inaugurated the new tram line in Liège on Friday, arriving at Place Saint-Lambert to the applause of many locals.
The Belgian Monarch arrived at around 10:00 at the tram maintenance and storage centre in Bressoux.

The King then proceeded to a depot where a tram awaited him, and he received a quick training session to prepare for driving the vehicle later in the city centre.
From Bressoux to the city centre, the King travelled part of the route in a specially reserved tram. Just before arriving at Place Saint-Lambert, in Feronstrée, the tram stopped to allow King Philippe to take the controls.
