A repeat offender was arrested on Saturday after a pursuit and two accidents in the Liège region, the Liège prosecutor’s office reported on Sunday, seeking the detention of the man born in 1989.
The suspect, who has a lengthy criminal record, was apprehended near Tilff, a district of Esneux in Liège province.
A police patrol spotted the suspect’s vehicle as flagged. Realising he had been noticed, he fled, speeding excessively and committing several traffic offences. In Boncelles, a district of Seraing, he collided with four vehicles.
He continued his escape via the Route du Condroz (N63), reaching speeds of 120 km/h and causing another accident near Tilff.
During his arrest, the man in his thirties resisted. It was found that his vehicle was neither insured nor inspected.
A magistrate has been appointed to the investigation, and the man’s detention has been requested.
