Three Ukrainians have been arrested in Germany and Switzerland on suspicion of planning acts of sabotage in Germany on behalf of Moscow.
This was announced by the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday.
The three are said to have targeted goods transport by rail.
According to the prosecutor’s office, they wanted to send parcels containing explosives or firebombs from Germany to recipients in Ukraine, which were to be detonated en route.
One of the suspects is said to have already sent two test parcels from Cologne at the end of March, containing GPS trackers to reconnoitre the routes.
A first man was arrested in Cologne on 9 May.
A second arrest followed in Konstanz the next day, and the third person was arrested on Tuesday in the Swiss canton of Thurgau.
He will be handed over to Germany.
