In Switzerland, a duck was recorded flying at 52 kilometres per hour in a 30 km/h zone, potentially making it its second offence.

The Köniz municipal government, near the Swiss capital of Bern, shared the peculiar incident on its Facebook page on Saturday.

Local police were taken aback when they reviewed radar images from 13 April and noticed a wild duck among the speed offenders.

Remarkably, the same radar captured a similar duck flying at the same speed on the same date seven years ago.

The municipal authorities considered the possibility of a prank or altered image.

However, the police confirmed the authenticity of the incident, emphasising that the image or radar system could not have been tampered with.

Annual calibration and verification are conducted on the computers by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology, and the photos are securely sealed.
