Belgian authorities have arrested two suspects in an investigation into corruption involving the purchase of military equipment for NATO, according to the federal prosecutor’s office.
One suspect has been placed under arrest by the investigating judge, while the other has been released.
The investigation focuses on possible irregularities in awarding contracts to defence contractors for the acquisition of military equipment, such as ammunition and drones, for NATO, the federal prosecutor’s office said.
The scope of the investigation extends to Luxembourg and Spain.
It is linked to another criminal investigation led by Dutch judicial authorities, coordinated by Eurojust.
