Seven men receive 15 to 29 years in prison for taking 13-year-old Genk boy hostage

The Tongeren Assise Court has sentenced seven men to prison terms ranging from 15 to 29 years for their involvement in a hostage taking five years ago.

Khalid Bouloudo (50),  Omar Loukili (29) and Yassine Laktit (29) were sentenced to 29, 20 and 15 years in prison respectively for their involvement in the abduction of 13-year-old Renan T. from Genk.

Mohamed Laktit, Abderrahman Laktit and Gulhan Yildirim, who were tried in absentia, received prison sentences of 25, 29 and 29 years respectively.

Yousef Ahkim, from Houthalen, was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Besides taking Renan hostage, the three Laktit brothers were also found guilty of taking a 37-year-old man from Temse hostage with torture.

These acts took place from 12 to 17 February 2020 in Antwerp in the basement of the Laktits’ parental home.
