The BEL 20 makes cautious gains thanks to arGEN-X

The BEL 20 index and its European counterparts made cautious gains on Friday, with the Brussels index standing out as arGEN-X surged by 3.83% to 504.40 points.

The BEL 20 closed at 4,447.35 points, an increase of 1.02%, with 14 of its components in the positive, leading to a weekly rise of 1.67%.

Aedifica and UCB saw notable gains of 2.79% and 2.62% respectively, outperforming Sofina and D’Ieteren, which appreciated by 2.46% and 2.02%. In contrast, Solvay and Syensqo fell by 0.92% and 1.44%, while KBC and Lotus Bakeries decreased by 0.72% and 0.68% respectively.

Ageas gained 0.62% from Thursday, while AB InBev edged up by 0.13%. Melexis and Umicore posted losses of 1.38% and 1.18%, respectively.

Azelis and Elia turned positive, gaining 1.50% and 1.68%, while Cofinimmo and WDP were up by 1.55% and 1.35%.

Outside the BEL 20, Bekaert and Kinepolis slipped by 3.42% and 2.62% respectively, taking into account coupon detachment, which influenced Bekaert’s gain of 2.11% and Kinepolis’s decline of 0.94%.

Bpost bounced back with a further gain of 3.5%, and both Care Property Invest and Xior rose by 2.3%. In contrast, Ekopak and CMB.TECH fell again by 3.6% and 2%.

Celyad and Hyloris ended in the red with losses of 7.3% and 3.6%, while Sequana Medical and Galapagos showed positive change, increasing by 2.3% and 2%.

By around 4:30 p.m., the euro traded at US$1.1180, slightly up from 1.1175 the previous day. The price of gold stood at about €91,305, down by €765.
