In Anderlecht, three individuals have been placed under arrest in connection with the February shooting that killed a 54-year-old man.
Authorities believe the arrested are the man who fired the fatal shots, the driver of the car used in the incident, and a third suspect, according to La Capitale. However, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office has not confirmed these reports and has refrained from commenting on the investigation.
The victim’s body was discovered in the lobby of block 14 in the Peterbos neighbourhood in Anderlecht, shortly after 4:00 on Friday, 7 February 2025.
Authorities suspect the deceased was involved with a drug gang and used his flat to store narcotics. It is believed the shooting stemmed from a turf war between the Peterbos gang and another group operating around Clémenceau Square.
The perpetrators allegedly used a dark Volkswagen Caddy, which was spotted on the A54 between Charleroi and Brussels both before and after the shooting. The vehicle was found in Luttre, a part of Pont-à-Celles, on the morning of 7 February.
According to La Capitale, investigators possess CCTV footage, fingerprints, and phone records linking the suspects to the vehicle. Two of them, alleged to be the shooter and the driver, have been detained since late March as part of a separate investigation in Charleroi.
All three suspects maintain their innocence, as reported by La Capitale.
